LumiFur: the companion app for LED fursuit faces
LumiFur is the companion software from Richies 3D Ltd for LED fursuit faces, such as Protogen builds. It lets you control your fursuit face from your iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Mac, so you can change expression on the go without touching the controller.

What LumiFur can do
- Switch faces and expressions by swiping through a grid or tapping.
- Send scrolling text messages to the face and adjust the scroll speed.
- Build, save and remix lighting presets.
- Adjust settings such as auto-brightness, accelerometer gestures and sleep mode.
- Check connection and signal strength, with widgets, a Live Activity and Apple Watch support.
- Find release notes and entry points for over-the-air firmware updates.
How it works
The app connects to the LumiFur controller over Bluetooth LE, so no network connection is needed. The controller is an ESP32-S3 board that renders animations in real time on dual 64x32 LED panels behind the mask. It includes motion, sound and proximity and light sensors for effects such as shake gestures, audio-reactive mouth animation and ambient brightness scaling.
Requirements
- iPhone and iPad: iOS or iPadOS 17.6 or later.
- Apple Watch: watchOS 26.0 or later.
- Mac: macOS 26.0 or later.
- A compatible LumiFur controller.
Free and open source
The app is free and open source under the BSD 3-Clause licence. Source code and releases are on GitHub. Hardware kits are available by request, and you can get a quote before ordering.
